To “B” or Not to “B”

The eight B Vitamins are extremely essential to our good health and work well together in a balanced complex form.  They are:  B12, Biotin, Folic Acid, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Pyridoxine, Riboflavin, and Thiamin.  B-Complex is sometimes referred to as “The Happy Vitamin” because it does so many wonderful things for the body.  It aids in the health of the digestive tract and the cardiovascular system by helping to maintain elasticity in the heart.  I have found it helpful in warding off migraines.

These days many Americans eat a diet full of processed foods from which the B Vitamins have been removed or destroyed.  We still need these vitamins in our diet because they convert food into energy for our body.  Some of the things that deplete B Vitamins are:  sugar, caffeine, alcohol, birth control pills, sleeping pills, sulfa drugs, estrogen, smoking and stress.  Wow!  What a list?  None of us have any of these issues (right?), but if we did, we might think about adding a B Complex Vitamin to our diet. 

When selecting a B Complex Vitamin it is important to make sure it has 100% Biotin (300mcg.)  Biotin is an expensive ingredient and some companies have very little in their product.  The key to a good B-Complex is a formulation is gluten free, with no artificial colors, preservatives and flavors added.
