Slavery and the Movement Towards Freedom

If you make your opinion heard on issues through websites like Credo, Moveon, Ultraviolet, and a plethora of others, soon issues to take action on are coming out of your ears. Everything from Monsanto and GMOs to the right to healthcare, to child labor, and much more.

I was writing a chapter recently for a book collaboration and I finished it off with the following statement: "Another project near and dear to my heart is the development of a non-profit with Roberta Goodman, another contributor to this book collaboration. The purpose of the organization is two-fold: retrain captive dolphins for successful release back to the wild and develop healing systems, techniques, and technologies that allow humans to experience the brainwave and healing effects of being in the presence of dolphins without dolphins actually needing to be present. We are aiming to free humanity and dolphins at the same time."

I was referring to freeing humanity from its self imposed prisons made up of fear, limiting beliefs, judgments, and expectations.

As one of my friends says at the end of each of his social media posts, "be careful what you ask for." Today a link to this page was in my inbox: http://www.walkfree.org/learn talking about modern slavery. I had heard about child sex slavery in the U.S., but I had NO IDEA all this other was going on, not only in the U.S., but all over the globe.

Something definitely needs to be done to eradicate the enslavement of children, women, dolphins, and everyone else being mistreated by an individual or an organization. Here is more information from a news source: http://thecnnfreedomproject.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/26/child-miners-face-death-for-tech/

Find out where your food and other products are coming from. Is the coffee you enjoy each morning being harvested by children who have no choice? Are slave laborers in Florida the reason you get to eat that tomato? Is the diamond and gold ring on your finger coming from a mine that uses slave labor in Africa or polished by child slaves in India? What about your sweet tooth and all that chocolate you consume? Are children being exploited so you can get your fix?

Be conscious when you make purchases and do not buy things that perpetuate the mistreatment of others or the environment.

I made this graphic the other day to show people what is really going on behind the scenes when they visit a dolphinarium.

Time to wake up and start doing the right thing. Your enjoyment of the comforts and luxuries of western society should not require someone else to be a slave.

Have a deLightful day,
Takara
